Casing
Plugs, Swage Patches & Patch Seals
Pipes, wells and bores, by the very nature of their use, are
subject to enormous wear and tear. Underground or high-pressure
systems are particularly prone to corrosion and seepage. RIPE
provide a tailored solution to the problems of repairing underground
bores in situ, with absolutely minimal loss in well diameter.
The
swage patch seal has a flexible, grooved rubber layer that
is lowered into position over a perforation or corrosion hole.
The packer is then inflated beside it to cement the reinforced
rubber patch into its permanent position and plug the leak.
A simple and highly effective solution.

with custom-manufactured casing seals and swage patches.
Casing reline packer patches
There are two types of expandable casing reline patches. The most commonly used reline patch is short lengths of up to 12meters. These are used for isolated corrosion areas. In multizoned corrosion environments a full casing reline packer patch would then be required (as this is the cheaper alternative to drilling a new well). Patch material is a full length rubber vulcanized bonded polymer skin on stainless steel generally with a wall thickness of 3mm(provided there is only internal pressures).
In the case of excessive draw down of the pump and external pressure on the casing, the packer patch would be subject to much higher collapse pressures so a heavier casing reline patch material is recommended with a wall thickness of ½”/ 12mm. The rubber skin is grooved to allow for expansion, and this will have an ‘O’ ring tight seal over the effective zone with the patch overhang of approximately 500 to 1000mm. The packer patch is run down the well/borehole to predetermine depth, via high pressure inflatable packer which is inflated inside the packer patch at its lowest point of the patch. This will place the packer patch in the correct zone required for the initial inflation.

CCTV Inspection and Logging
Run camera down well/borehole and inspect casing.
If casing has build up on walls (e.g. scale, fungi growth) it will be necessary to swab hole. Electrolysis and corrosion are major causes and faults. Tagging is an important step to obtain the accurate measurement from the well head to the depth of the effective zones.
K Packer seals (also known as tri seals, m packers and K seals)
Many different types and sizes of K packers are manufactured all with flared cone tapers, and weld prep on the bottom for well screens or pipe extensions. Multi rubber ribs form a seal between the pipe and the well casing. The rubber is fully vulcanized to the pipe casing then machined to the correct diameter and sealing requirements. The fully vulcanized rubber and the multi ribbing makes for a vast improvement on the age old problem of sealing that the old k packer once had. K packer seals are the perfect aid to the task of joining bore hole casings of differing diameters.
